One of the most horrifying clowns returns to our screens. Terrifier 2 is set to be launched this week, just in time for Halloween! Art the Clown will return in the highly anticipated sequel to 2016's Terrifier to do what he does best: frighten! Damien Leone, the first Terrifier's writer, producer, and director, was the first to reveal on Instagram in February 2019 that the sequel draft was finished.
Leone sought funds from private investors rather than selling the rights to Art the Clown to larger studios. Leone also started an Indiegogo campaign to help fund the special effects. The campaign was a huge success, raising $250k over its $50k goal, and fans are eagerly awaiting the sequel. Leone indicated that there would be a third and fourth picture due to the success of the campaign.
Casting was then revealed in September and October 2019, with filming starting the following month. However, work was halted in March 2020 owing to COVID-19, postponing the film's release. However, Leone did release a teaser trailer for Terrifier 2 in July 2020, offering fans a glimpse of Art the Clown terrifying again on Halloween. Leone confirmed on Instagram in July 2021 that filming has completely concluded.
Art the Clown originally appeared in Leone's All Hollows Eve, with the first Terrifier revealing more about him. He is recognized as one of the most terrifying clowns in film simply because he never speaks or makes a single sound. On Halloween night, Terrifier concentrated on Art The Clown following and frightening three girls. Victoria, one of the girls, survives the night, but with a damaged face from Art the Clown eating her face. Terrifier 2's trailer was released on August 23rd. Terrifier 2 then made its international premiere on August 29th at FrightFest, with attendees complimenting the sequel on social media, claiming it is better than the first.
Terrifier 2: The Plot
Terrifier 2 will pick up one year after the events of the previous film, on Halloween night. Art the Clown comes to Miles County after being resurrected by a demonic force, where he attacks a teenage girl, Sienna, and her younger brother on Halloween night.
The most common criticism leveled against the first Terrifier was a lack of plot. Leone used this critique to develop a more character-driven plot for Terrifier 2. In an interview with Halloween Daily News, Leone discussed the film's main character, Sienna, who is dressed as an angel for Halloween. He states:
Terrifier 2: The Cast
David Howard Thorton will reprise his role as Art the Clown from the first film in Terrifier 2. Lauren LaVera (Iron Fist) will play Sienna, the main protagonist and heroine of the film. Newcomer Elliot Fullman plays Jonathan, Sienna's younger brother, who wants to dress up as Art the Clown for Halloween before the horrible events occur.
Other cast members returning to Terrifier 2 include Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria, one of Art the Clown's victims in the original film. Victoria was the only survivor, but she had a lifelong scar on her face. Art the Clown was in the middle of chewing her face in the first Terrifier when the cops arrived, leaving Victoria with lifelong disfigurement, ruining her life, and becoming the antihero.
Other returning cast members include the two police officers thought to be repeating their roles, as well as Micahel Levy, who played Will the Exterminator in the first Terrifier but will return as the voice of the club DJ in Terrifier 2.
Terrifier 2 Release Date
Terrifier 2 is set to have a limited theatrical release on October 6th through Bloody Disgusting before streaming exclusively only on Screambox.
